Information about Sandbags

In the event of flooding Herefordshire Council has made arrangements with many parish councils to hold stocks of sandbags for local use where there is known to be a risk of flooding. In rural areas, your Parish Council should be the first point of contact for assistance with sandbags. The service is provided free of charge. Herefordshire Council holds contingency stocks of sandbags at our highway depots in Hereford (Unit 3, Thorn Business Park, Rotherwas), and Kingsland for use in emergencies. These are available for collection free of charge to private individuals. During flooding incidents council staff will be deployed to assist those most at risk, particularly vulnerable members of the community such as the elderly or infirm. Requests for delivery of sandbags will be prioritised and a charge may be levied.
